Is it a bird...?

Another great find, on the theme of birds again (I'll be a twitcher before we know it) - this time by textile artist Abigail Brown.

Her crafted birds are so lifelike I had to do a double take. Okay, maybe they are a bit more kaleidoscopic than the original. But so cute! Brown produces her birds entirely by hand in her studio in London. They are crafted from new and reused materials and each piece is utterly unique.

Inspired by her grandma's patchwork scrap bag, Brown eventually got her very 'raggy bag' and hasn't looked back since. Now old pyjamas might become a sparrow, curtains from the 1970s might beget a puffin and an old friend's skirt could even reemerge as a toucan – and who knows what went into the peacock. It's an aviary obsession that gives old fabric flight.
